FOODUCATE APP: ANALYZE FOOD LABELS

I use my cell phone to keep track of my credit cards, maintain my calendar, surf the the web and social media, save all my contact information, send and receive text messages and more, but I am not really an APP person.

A friend of mine recently introduced me to an app called Fooducate. I find fooducate useful in finding out what exactly I am buying at the grocery store. Fooducate analyzes information printed on product nutrition labels and ingredient lists and gives you a ton of valuable information. Here is a quick look at how it works

If you use your smartphone to manage your diet, loose weight, and track your progress, Fooducate can be a great addition to your diet toolbox.  According to Fooducate, here are some of the things you can do with their app:

  • scan a product barcode to see a personalized nutrition grade (A, B, C, or D)
  • learn about a product’s pros and cons
  • choose healthier alternatives
  • track your food intake and exercise
  • track the quality of calories, not just quantity
  • add your own foods to track
  • and more…

My favorite feature is the ability to discover things that you don’t find by just reading the labels. Fooducate claims their app enables you to discover things that manufacturers don’t want you to notice  such as:

  • excessive and added sugar
  • tricky trans fats
  • high fructose corn syrup
  • MSG
  • controversial food colorings
  • GMO – genetical modified organisms
  • additives and preservatives
  • artificial sweeteners such as aspartame
  • and more…

Fooducate goes beyond just revealing the actual calorie content, it helps you lose weight and keep it off! To learn more about Fooducate click here.
