FlexTend Insulin Pen Holder
FLEXtend is a simple insulin pen holder that enables you to access more injection sites. FLEXtend works in conjunction with TickleFLEX to extend your selection site by stabilizing the pen, therefore preventing the needle from going too deep.
By holding FLEXtend rather than the pen it reverses your grip so your thumb is now at the needle end. Pressing FLEXtend towards your skin causes the pen to slide inwards and depress the insulin delivery button against the blocked end of the tube. So simple but so effective.

The Issue
When you self inject you use your thumb to depress the insulin ejection button. Holding the pen like that limits where you can reach, so you tend to overuse the most convenient space. This can result in a condition known as lipohypertrophy. It is not just unsightly but compromises the reliable diffusion of the insulin.
The Benefit
The only effective treatment for lipohypertrophy is to rest the affected area and allow it to heal. FLEXtend can double the body area that can be used for injecting. This gives extra space to rotate your sites.
How to use

STEP1. Attach TickleFLEX to your pen. Slide it into FLEXtend and steady it with your thumb through the lip notch.

STEP2. Hold FLEXtend at 90° to your body and push firmly – it will depress the delivery button as the pen slides inside the tube.

Bio- 41 years T1D, 20 years insulin pump, back on needles due to set irritation and high sugars. Needle phobic.
I’ve already written a review for the Tickleflex (which I love) and now wanted to review the Flextend.
This item is the most simple of products. It is literally a plastic tube. Nothing else. It very loosely fits over your insulin pen. I think the simplicity of it made me wonder how it could help with injecting at all. But it really does. All your really doing is sliding the tube over the pen and very lightly putting your thumb in the notch to stabilize the pen. It absolutely makes it possible to reach around to places you can’t even see to inject. And what I love is that the motion of inserting the needle allows the Flextend to slide forward toward the needle and triggers the insulin pen button making inserting and pushing the button all one action. Paired with the Tickleflex, these two items have made my needle phobia totally controlled and manageable.
