Libre 3 PLUS Sensor vs. Libre 3
- Main difference: Libre 3 PLUS can be worn for 15 DAYS
According to the manufacturer, Abbott, the FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus sensor:
- Can be worn up to 15 days
- Is indicated for children 2 years and older
- Works with Automated Insulin Delivery (AID) systems1
Whereas the FreeStyle Libre 3 sensor can be worn up to 14 days, is indicated for children 4 years and older, and does not work with AID systems.
Although the FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus sensor has the capability to work with AID systems we currently do not have a partner. We will announce future AID partnerships as soon as the information is available.

Do I need a new app for Libre 3 PLUS?
No, the Libre 3 PLUS sensor uses the same app as Libre 3.

Applying the Libre 3 PLUS Sensor
Applying the sensor is surprisingly easy. By following just a few easy steps you will be on your way to begin monitoring your glucose levels with the Libre 3 PLUS sensor system!
- Wash, Clean, and Dry: Select a site on the back of your upper arm. Clean the skin with non-moisturizing, fragrance-free soap and water. Use an alcohol wipe to remove any oily residue and let air dry.
- Open Applicator: Unscrew cap from applicator and place sensor over the back of your upper arm.
WARNING! DO NOT PUT CAP BACK ON AS IT MAY DAMAGE THE SENSOR.
- Apply: To apply the sensor, press firmly and listen for the click. Pull back slowly after a few seconds.

Setting up and Obtaining Readings with the Libre 3 Sensor PLUS and iPhone
To use the Libre 3 PLUS Sensor with iPhone, first install the official Libre 3 app from the appstore. Upon launching the app, a prompt will appear to connect the device. This video walks you through the process:
How Often to Change the Libre 3 Sensor PLUS
Each wearable Libre 3 PLUS sensor is good for 15 days of use upon application. After 15 days have passed the sensor will no longer provide a reading and will need to be changed. Order the Libre 3 Sensor with Auto-ship to Avoid Running Out.

Do I need the Libre 3 Reader?
Each Libre 3 Sensor PLUS will work with either the “optional” reader, or a paired smartphone through the Libre 3 iPhone app. You must have a Libre 3 reader or a compatible smartphone to receive the readings that the sensor collects.

Yes, the Freestyle Libre 3 PLUS sensor works with both the Libre 3 Reader and the app. Please note that once a sensor is paired with an app or a reader, it CANNOT be re-paired with another device.
The main difference is in wear time. The Libre 3 Plus sensor, compared to the Libre 3, features a 15-day wear time (vs. 14 days). It's also indicated for children 2 years and older (vs. 4 years and older), and is designed for compatibility with Automated Insulin Delivery (AID) systems.

I like that I can just leave this on for 15 days and not have to worry about recording my blood sugar. I havent tried the food tracking portion yet, but I look forward to that feature!
It depends on what you can expect. It sometimes requires a finger prick to ensure the reading is accurate. Sometimes it differs a little. But it is a very valuable tool have a handle on how glucose is behaving.
I really like being able to see my glycemic readings on my phone, which the Libre 3 Plus does.
Easy to put on, and I like how even if the app disconnects it still reads, there is no delay once it connects again, which can be done by restarting the phone. Although it would be nice if it did not happen but at least it still keeps the data.
SO convenient to use! I wish it was a bit more accurate, but after testing against a finger prick you know how to compensate.
