Insulin is a hormone produced in the pancreas. Insulin’s primary role is to regulate the metabolism of carbohydrates and fasts in the body. It allows glucose to pass into our cells to be used for energy production. Insulin also turns off the liver’s making of glucose thus creating a glance in the sugar levels in the body.
When there is not enough insulin in the body, the glucose cannot be absorbed from the blood to the muscles. This causes the glucose amount to go up in the blood. When that happens, glucose gets discharged through the urine.
Because glucose cannot be utilized for energy production, the body breaks down fats for energy. This causes a person with diabetes to feel fatigue despite the present of sugar in their body.
